Outdoor weddings are always great, but with our ever-changing Rockford / Northern Illinois weather you just never know what the temperature is going to be like mid-summer...could be 110, could be 60. That said, we could not have asked for a a more gorgeous day for Lindsey & Cameron's wedding at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms. It was 75 degrees and free of the hazy humid air that sometime surrounds us here. (Just like I planned it, ha)

Add in an amazing venue and people that were wonderfully fun to work with and you have the recipe for a great day. Here's a few photos from the day.

Angela & Sterling's Downtown Rockford Wedding | Rockford Wedding Photographer

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of being asked by Brian Milo to shoot Angela & Sterling's wedding in downtown Rockford with him. The ceremony was at the gorgeous historic Trinity Lutheran Church, just a block off the Rock River and the reception was at Franchesco's Ristorante, decorated in a very impressive amount of pink.

The entire wedding party was a blast, but no matter what you hear, I was not singing boy band songs along with any of them. (Cough...ahem)

Delbert

This is my uncle Delbert. He passed away early this morning. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him over past few months. His quiet, strong, dignity as he made peace with his decision to end dialysis, and watching him and my dad spend time together is something I will never forget. 

My son is too young to be able remember spending time with his great-uncle Delbert, but that really got me thinking about why we take most photos in the first place. To mark a moment in time. To stir up memories. To spur conversation. So when I show some of these photos to my son Felix years from now, he will get to know Delbert through them and the stories that will come up as those memories stir. And that is a great thing.

So please, take lots of photos.

Molly & Joe's Belvidere Wedding | Rockford, Belvidere Wedding Photographer

Oh hi there, blog. It's been a while. It's not you...it's me. I've been extremely busy, but wedding season kicked in to gear last weekend and so expect more posts from me. (No promises. Fingers crossed.) And now, on with the show...

When I first met Molly and Joe to discuss their wedding at the Belvidere Community Center I knew instantly that they were going to be a fun couple to work with. And to confirm this, their wedding processional was complete with tunes from Monty Python, The March of the Sugar Plum Fairies, and the Imperial Stormtrooper March. Add in a great location w/ an Art Deco vibe, the always gorgeous Belvidere Park, a downtown area with a yesteryear feel, a potluck feast for the ages, and top it all off with an amazing first dance by Molly & Joe - ballroom style - set to a medley that included Kermit the Frog AND Cake, and you have a recipe for a wedding that I can confidently say no one will forget anytime soon.
