Isabelle & Andy | Coronado Theater Engagement Session

What do you do for an engagement photo session when you're hit with a Midwest winter than just never seems to end? You take the session indoors. And that's exactly what Isabelle & Andy did. I spent a few hours with them last week while they explored the majesty and splendor of the Coronado Theater in downtown, Rockford. Here's a peek a few photos from the day:

Glencoe Beach Engagement | Allison & Matt

When I first meet with a couple to plan out their engagement session, I always tell them to start thinking of places that are significant to them as a couple. An engagement session is an opportunity to start telling their story, and if the places we shoot have a special meaning to the couple, that's always a bonus.

For Allison and Matt that place was Glencoe Beach on the North Shore of Lake Michigan, and if there was a theme to the story it was "let's have some fun!". And so we did. (The secondary theme was "Love Tiger" but that's a whooooole different story, haha) But I digress...Here's a look at our adventure!

Jodi & Trevor | Rockford Engagement Photography

Mother Nature has been playing games with my shoots these past few weeks, and that game has been "Rain Out Ryan", ha. So after some rescheduling due to that uncooperative weather, I met up with Jodi and Trevor (and Wrigley too) in downtown Rockford for an engagement photo session earlier this week, and this time the weather was more than cooperative. Penny & Drew | Rockford Wedding & Engagement Photographer

Looking out the window and seeing all the snow on the ground it's hard to believe that we had warm weather up until a few days ago. But we did, and so I met up with Penny and Drew on their family ranch last week to take advantage of the mild temperatures and sneak in a quick engagement photo session before the inevitable wrath of mother nature blanketed us in snow.

After some coffee while we discussed our plan, Penny and Drew saddled up on horseback and off we went.

As we shot this next series of photos, the horses made a break for it and I actually got to wrangle one of 'em. Of course, if I'd have stopped to think about what I was doing I probably never would've tried to stop a horse. Hahaha, yep...I'm all city these days.

Now when I said it was warm out, I meant warm for winter. That means a little bit of wind and things can get chilly again, so we took a quick break and then had a quick photo shoot in the barn before heading out for a spectacular sunset.

Now on to that sunset...

If you only knew how much those geese charged me to fly in...next time I'm hiring ducks!

Thanks for having me out Penny & Drew...can't wait for the wedding ( and on second thought, let's keep those geese on retainer).
