Street Photography w/ The Fonz

"Hey dad, can I go take some pictures?" , my 5 year old son asked.

Since it was close to 80 degrees out he didn't have to ask twice. I grabbed my Ricoh GR, showed him quickly how to shoot with it and off we went to adventure in downtown Rockford.

The following photos were shot entirely by The Fonz.

Christmas Joy

I took just a few photos over the Christmas holiday festivities - the wrapping of gifts, the opening of them, holiday lights, friends and family enjoying each other's company - but this is definitely one of my favorites from the holiday.

As we sat at our dining room table ready to start our Christmas breakfast, my wife brought out a pan of cinnamon rolls. As she set it on the table, my son looked up from his plate and the huge pan and stared at it with the wide-eyed joy of a three year old about to get a sugar fix. So I grabbed my iPhone as it was the closest camera to me and I really wanted to capture this moment. Here it is.

Hope you all had some of that wide-eyed joy this year.

Defending Dandelions

I have a good friend who teases me sometimes about my yard work skills, or lack thereof, to be more precise. "You have got to do something about those weeds in your yard!" he'll say.

"I don't have any weeds in my yard." I'll usually reply to him with a grin, "I just have lots of little yellow flowers."

Well due to the early spring those little yellow flowers had already overtaken my yard and their golden glow had turned to milky white. And so this weekend it was finally time to do something. And so we did. We played in them. Here's a little glimpse of the adventure.

Now, I don't begrudge anyone who chooses to  wage war on dandelions and fight that never ending battle. I'm not even saying that my laissez-faire attitude towards my yard being returned to the wild is a good one.  All I know is that while some of you are sweating, cursing, and fighting the good fight...some of us will be out enjoying the flowers.
