When I first got a call from Jessica about the possibility of photographing her wedding, I was at the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison. So there I was trying to discuss wedding photography with monkeys screaming at the top of their lungs in the background. I don't know if "You'll have to excuse me, i'm surrounded by a bunch of crazy monkeys right now!" is a good way to start off every prospective wedding conversation, but I do know that both Jessica and I laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation, and right then I knew this was going to be a good fit! So there you have it...if you ever want to know where you stand with a potential client, take my word for it, just call them from a monkey cage.

Jess and Mike live in Texas, so our communication before the wedding consisted of lots of phone calls, emails, and texts. In those many conversations, there was one reoccurring theme - water. Jess has always lived on the water, and so it was only natural that water played a big role in the wedding day, from the ceremony on the shore of Lake Delavan to a few moments between Jess and Mike captured on the pier.
As has been the running theme this summer, it was HOT out...so what better way to cool off than with a pina colada in the shade.
Instead of the traditional wedding cake, Jess and Mike opted for an ice cream bar, which also was a great choice on a hot summer day. A couple after my own heart!
How can you not love a wedding party that gets down to Thriller.
